Soul – Raising the bar on quick game releases.
Hello, All! I’m Wyatt from MetaHobby. We’re a small game studio that’s focused on releasing high quality cross-platform games quickly. To accomplish this we have to eliminate repetitive tasks that are required when making a game, like setting up cameras, making menus and menu elements, controlling background music, etc. To combat this issue and save our precious time we use a base project. It has all of our scripts, menu elements, and core game infrastructure setup. We use this base project in everything that we do from game jams to starting our next title. It cuts days worth of work off a project, instantly gives the project a higher level of quality, and brings our next game that much closer to being on the shelf. Soul is what we call this project base. It has:
- Resolution/aspect ratio/camera management
- UI resize/anchor System
- reusable cross-platform menu system (with menu elements- buttons, multi-select, toggle, shifter, slider, etc..)
- Background music manager
- Audio group levels management
- Moar things
We will be writing a series of blog posts showing how different parts of soul work.
